NeighborSpace Year in Review: Children’s Garden of Hope

What makes your block into a neighborhood?

For the Chicagoans living near the intersection of Grand and Pulaski, it’s Children’s Garden of Hope. This year, the ACE Design Build Workshop worked with a team of 15 CPS high school students to create an inverted trumpet flower structure that does duty as public artwork, rain catchment system, and garden workstation.

It was possible for these students to exercise their artistic muscle and have a positive, concrete impact on their community because NeighborSpace preserved this land for the community.

As we draw towards the end of 2012, we hope that you will consider donating to NeighborSpace. Every dollar helps us fund projects like the inverted trumpet flower, secure the community gardens and urban farms of the future, and help more blocks feel like neighborhoods.
